UNPRI Faculty of Law Hits the Ground Running in Early 2026: Discussing Freedom of Expression with the Ministry of Human Rights

A strategic step by the UNPRI Faculty of Law in responding to freedom of expression issues in Indonesia

UNPRI, Medan – The Faculty of Law at Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) reaffirms its role as a leading law faculty in Medan by organizing a seminar titled "Strengthening Human Rights (HAM) for the Community." This event was held in collaboration with the North Sumatra Regional Office of the Ministry of Human Rights on Thursday (22/01/2026) at the UNPRI Main Hall.

The seminar was preceded by the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between the Dean of UNPRI Law Faculty, Dr. Elvira Fitriyani Pakpahan, S.HI., M.Hum., and the Head of the North Sumatra Regional Office of Human Rights, Dr. Flora Nainggolan, S.H., M.Hum. Over 500 students attended the session, which explored the balance between constitutional rights and legal responsibilities in the digital age.

Key speakers included Prof. Sri Sulistiawati, S.H., M.Si., Ph.D. (UNPRI), AKBP Rahman Antero Purba, S.Pd., S.H., M.H. (North Sumatra Regional Police), Irwan Arfa, S.Ag., M.M. (ANTARA News Bureau), and Porman JM Mahulao, S.T., M.Si. (Communication & Informatics Office). They discussed how freedom of expression acts as a foundation for democracy while warning against the legal risks of defamation and disinformation in the digital space. This initiative supports SDGs 4, SDGs 17 by fostering a legal-aware and digitally literate generation.

UNPRI's Faculty of Law currently offers four programs: Bachelor of Law, Master of Law, Master of Notary, and Doctor of Law, all of which are accredited "Unggul" (Superior). This status cements UNPRI's reputation as a top-tier private law institution in Indonesia, adaptive to national and international legal needs.
