A total of 20 students from the Faculty of Superior Agrotechnology at UNPRI attended the Palm Oil Career Expo (POCE) 2025 in Medan.

UNPRI Students Broaden Their Insights and Networks at the National Palm Oil Industry Career Event

UNPRI, Medan – The prestigious annual event for young people aspiring to build a career in the palm oil industry was organized by Hai Sawit Indonesia in collaboration with the Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDP), featuring several prominent national plantation companies. The event took place over two days, Wednesday–Thursday, October 15–16, 2025, at Tiara Convention Centre Medan, from 08:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. WIB.

POCE 2025 combined several main agendas, including a Job Fair, Career Seminar, Sharing Session, and Company Branding. Open not only to active students, the event also welcomed alumni from various universities across North Sumatra, particularly those with educational backgrounds in agribusiness, agrotechnology, and agriculture. Through the seminar sessions, participants received direct insights into company profiles and strengths, career opportunities, as well as tips and tricks for navigating the palm oil industry from experts, professionals, and HR representatives of leading palm oil plantation companies.

The opening ceremony of POCE was attended by the Mayor of Medan, represented by the Assistant for Economy and Development of the Medan City Government Secretariat, Dr. Drs. H. Citra Efendi Capah, M.SP.; the Head of the Medan City Manpower Office, Illyan Chandra Simbolon, S.STP., M.S.P., along with his staff; Hai Sawit Director M. Danang MRQ; and the President Director of BPDP, represented by the Head of the Division of Community Cooperation and MSMEs, Helmi Muhansyah. The event was also attended by owners and representatives of major plantation companies in Indonesia, sponsors, boards of directors, management teams, and representatives from invited universities.

The event featured an inspiring talk show with several speakers. On the second day, sessions were delivered by Andi Setiawan, Director of PT STA Clara Indonesia; Adi Suryono, HR Director of PT Bakrie Sumatera Plantations; and M. Danang MRQ from Hai Sawit, who shared valuable insights about careers and job opportunities in the palm oil sector.

More than 15 leading plantation companies participated in POCE 2025, including PT Sawit Nabati Agro (IOI Group), PT Dharma Agung Wijaya (DAW Group), PT Dinamika Lubsindo Utama, PT Perkebunan Nusantara III (Persero), PT Agrina Sawit Perdana, PT Sawit Sumbermas Sarana Tbk, PT Mahkota Group Tbk, Minanga Group, PT Golden Land Gemilang, PT Evans Indonesia, along with support from the Medan City Manpower Office and BP3MI North Sumatra. All expo participants received complete facilities, including seminar materials, certificates, and lunch — all free of charge.

Students from the Faculty of Agrotechnology at UNPRI expressed their gratitude for the opportunity provided by the faculty to attend this event. They found that their experience at POCE 2025 offered new perspectives on the palm oil industry, especially in preparing themselves for entering the workforce. All the participating students were seventh-semester students who had completed internship programs with the faculty’s partner companies, making this expo experience an important complement before entering the plantation industry.

The Faculty of Agrotechnology at UNPRI, led by Dr. Suratni Afrianti, S.T., M.Si., is one of the eight leading faculties at Universitas Prima Indonesia.
