UNPRI Demonstrates the Quality of Agro Technology Students at POCE Medan 2025

Medan, UNPRI - Students from the Faculty of Agro Technology at Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) stood out at the "Palm Oil Career Expo (POCE) 2025," a prestigious event that connects young people with major companies in the national palm oil industry. The event, organized by Hai Sawit Indonesia in collaboration with the Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDP), took place over two days, from October 15–16, 2025, at the Tiara Convention Centre in Medan, and was attended by dozens of universities from North Sumatra, Aceh, Riau, and Jambi.

POCE 2025 featured a variety of exciting activities, including a Job Fair, Career Seminars, Sharing Sessions, and Company Branding. This event provided an important platform for students and alumni from various universities to explore job opportunities, expand industry networks, and learn more about major companies in the plantation sector. UNPRI students became the center of attention due to their active participation, discipline, and creativity displayed throughout the two-day event.

One of the proud moments came from Axel Leonardo Hailitik, an Agro Technology student at UNPRI, who won First Place in the Palm Oil Quiz Competition. Axel outperformed other participants from different campuses thanks to his accuracy and speed in answering questions about palm oil plantations and general agribusiness industry issues. Not only Axel, but Wawan Heriawan Wijaya, another Agro Technology student, also achieved success by winning the POCE 2025 Video Challenge, thanks to his creative ideas and outstanding cinematographic skills. Both of them successfully showcased the quality of UNPRI students as an excellent generation that is active, creative, adaptive, innovative, and has a socio-technopreneurial spirit.

The achievements of UNPRI's Agro Technology students, all of whom are in their seventh semester, did not stop there. In the interactive quiz "Kahoot Challenge," nine Agro Technology students from UNPRI once again recorded victories, namely Thoriq Rizky Ananda, Putriani Napitupulu, Steven Rionaldo Sihombing, Mastaria br Ginting, Rafael Faiven Saragih, Axel Leonardo Hailitik, Tasya Anggary br Ginting, Efi Christina br Sitanggang, and Widya Elitta Gurusinga. Their participation not only brought home prizes and certificates of appreciation but also valuable experiences that enriched their academic and professional portfolios, including for the completion of the Certificate of Accompanying Degree (SKPI).

The POCE 2025 event was officially opened by the Assistant for Economic Affairs and Development of the Medan City Government, Dr. Drs. H. Citra Effendi Capah, M.SP, representing the Mayor of Medan Rico Waas. Also attending were Helmi Muhansyah, Head of the Community and MSME Cooperation Division of BPDP, and M. Danang MRQ, Director of Hai Sawit Indonesia. In his speech, Danang emphasized that POCE is not just a recruitment event but a strategic collaboration space between the world of education, industry, and government to build superior human resources in the sustainable palm oil plantation sector.

Through the active involvement of UNPRI's Agro Technology students in POCE 2025, the university reaffirmed its reputation as an accredited private university of excellence that consistently produces graduates with a modern agro vision, who understand the concept of smart farming and are ready to compete in the national palm oil industry. Under the leadership of the Dean of the Faculty of Agro Technology, Dr. Suratni Afrianti, S.T., M.Si., and supported by the Rector of UNPRI, Prof. Dr. Chrismis Novalinda Ginting, M.Kes., AIFO-K., along with the academic community of the Agro Technology and Agribusiness Study Programs, each of which has been accredited as Excellent, UNPRI has become the only university in Indonesia focused on the development of education in palm oil plantation management.
