LLDIKTI Region I hosted an info security socialization at Deli Husada with Dr. Abdi Dharma & Elvis Ompusunggu on campus data protection.

UNPRI, Deli Serdang – Wearing his signature batik shirt, Dr. Abdi Dharma, S.Kom., M.Kom. enthusiastically shared insights and information with hundreds of participants, who were information and communication technology (ICT) managers from private universities across North Sumatra.

The event was held on Thursday (28/08/2025) at the Ballroom of the Deli Husada Health Institute Activity Building, Deli Tua. The Information Security Socialization for Private Universities (PTS) within LLDIKTI Region I North Sumatra was considered crucial to protect sensitive data from cyber threats, raise awareness among the academic community about digital risks, and maintain institutional reputation and competitiveness.

Opening & Remarks

The event was opened by Prof. Saiful Anwar Matondang, M.A., Ph.D., Head of LLDIKTI Region I, who in his remarks emphasized the importance of awareness and the implementation of information security in today’s digital era. According to him, private universities as providers of higher education services have the responsibility to safeguard the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of both academic and administrative data.

Materials & Practice

During the socialization, Dr. Abdi Dharma, S.Kom., M.Kom. presented material on information system security in higher education and conducted a server handling simulation. He stressed that building a culture of digital security is essential to prevent financial loss and reputational damage.

Participation & Discussion

Participants actively engaged in discussions and asked questions related to the challenges of implementing information security at their respective campuses. The enthusiasm was evident from the many inputs and experiences shared during the Q&A session.

In addition to Dr. Abdi Dharma, another speaker was Elvis Ompusunggu, S.Kom., M.Kom., who presented material on phishing and penetration testing.
