Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) held a welcoming event for students participating in the inbound Independent Student Exchange (PMM) on Saturday (18/9/2023) at the UNPRI Campus Hall, Jalan Sampul 3 Kota Medan. This year, UNPRI accepted 108 students from 56 state and private universities throughout Indonesia to study at ULM in the 2023 PMM program. This program is an important momentum in establishing cross-cultural and scientific brotherhood.
The welcoming ceremony was attended by a number of university officials, including Vice Chancellor 1 for Academic Affairs, Abdi Dharma S, Kom, M.Kom; Vice Chancellor 3 for Student Affairs Dr. Said Rizal, SHI, MA; and Head of the MBKM Management Unit at UNPRI, Academic Study Center, Friska Ria Sitorus, S.Pd, M.Ed., Ph.D. The presence of university officials was to give remarks and provide technical direction related to the lecture activities that will be undertaken by inbound students.
Vice Chancellor 1, Abdi Dharma S.Kom., M.Kom in his remarks, welcomed the students and welcomed them to Medan City. He emphasized the importance of the PMM program as an opportunity to take cross-study program courses and bring home the best grades. "Let's exchange culture, customs, tolerance, and continue to follow the direction of the Field Supervisor (DPL). UNPRI always supports this PMM program so that it runs smoothly," said Abdi Dharma.
Next, Vice Rector 3, Dr. Said Rizal, SHI, MA, warmly welcomed students to UNPRI, as a multi-ethnic university. He appreciated the courage of the students who dared to get out of their comfort zone and were willing to study outside their home island.
At the end of his speech, Dr. Said Rizal expressed his hopes regarding the implementation of the PMM program this year. "We hope that PMM 2023 can be a fertile platform for the exchange of ideas, culture, and knowledge. Hopefully all students gain valuable experiences and make this exchange an important milestone in their academic and personal development," he concluded.
The welcoming event was the first step for 106 inbound students who arrived at UNPRI, ready to begin an impressive academic and cultural exchange journey during PMM 2023, as the PMM tagline "exchange temporarily and meaningfully forever". UNPRI is committed to ensuring the success of this program by providing superior academic resources and adequate facilities, while creating an inclusive environment for mutually beneficial cultural and knowledge exchange. Great hopes are reflected that these inbound students will not only bring home valuable academic knowledge, but also profound cultural experiences. They are expected to become ambassadors of peace, strengthen tolerance, and deepen cross-cultural understanding in the future, while forming a solid foundation for achieving impressive academic achievements and motivating personal growth.
