Industrial Engineering and Electrical Engineering Study Programs Conduct a Visit to PT. Sinar Sosro

The Industrial Engineering and Electrical Engineering Study Programs of the Faculty of Technology and Computer Science, Unpri, visited PT. Sinar Sosro Deli Serdang, Monday, April 6, 2015. The visit was also attended by the Head of the Industrial Engineering Study Program, Fahri Zulmi, S.T., M.T., who is also the chairman of the committee and the Head of the Electrical Engineering Study Program, Ir. Hendrik Siagian, M.Kom

The chairman of the committee, Fahri Zulmi, S.T., M.T., revealed that the background to this visit was that industrial competition has been growing rapidly from year to year, thus demanding reliable and competent human resources in facing these changes. Some important factors that human resources must have are knowledge and skills.

"Higher education institutions, which are one of the pillars of the country in forming and advancing Indonesian human resources, are highly demanded to actively meet these needs," he said.

Fahri continued, the knowledge provided in college will not be enough if it is not supported by learning from outside the campus. One way to meet the need for knowledge and skills is through industrial visits. Industrial visits are useful for forming new insights for students so that they will not be "shocked" to see and face such rapid changes after graduating from college.

It is hoped that with this industrial visit, FTIK UNPRI students, especially Industrial Engineering and Electrical Engineering, will increasingly understand the importance of learning outside the classroom.

During the visit, a detailed explanation of the Sosro factory was delivered by the Production Manager of PT. Sinar Sosro Pabrik Deli Serdang, Mr. Jusra Tampubolon. He explained the production process on the factory floor clearly and transparently. In between the activities there was a question and answer session. Industrial and Electrical Engineering students were very enthusiastic in asking questions which were answered directly by Mr. Jusra. From the entire question and answer session, there were approximately 11 questions submitted by students. This is certainly also input for PT. Sinar Sosro.
