UNPRI Strengthens National Healthcare Services through the Handover of 17 Medical Specialist Residency (PPDS) Students

UNPRI's Commitment to Producing Professional Specialists and Enhancing the Quality of the National Healthcare System.

Medan – Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI), as a private university with 8 Medical Specialist Education Programs (PPDS)—the highest number in Indonesia—has reaffirmed its commitment to producing high-quality specialists. The Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry (FKKG) UNPRI held a handover ceremony for PPDS students to teaching hospitals on Monday (Mar 2, 2026). This step is part of the university's efforts to produce competent and high-quality medical professionals.

A total of 17 PPDS students from programs including Primary Care Family Medicine, Radiology, Ophthalmology, Cardiology and Vascular Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Surgery, and Internal Medicine were handed over to teaching hospitals to begin their clinical education stage. The existence of these various specialist programs proves that UNPRI continues to innovate in meeting national health needs challenges.

The event was attended by Vice Rector II Prof. Dr. Ermi Girsang, President Director of RSU Royal Prima Medan Dr. dr. Wienaldi, Director of RSU Royal Prima Marelan dr. Nurul Apla Wizaya Syahputri, President Director of RSK Mata Prima Vision Dr. dr. Muhammad Faridz Syahrian, and Dean of FKKG Prof. Dr. dr. H. Gusbakti Rusip, Vice Dean I Dr. dr. Irza Haicha Pratama, Vice Dean III drg. Susanto, as well as the heads and secretaries of PPDS programs within FKKG UNPRI.

Dean of FKKG UNPRI, Prof. Dr. dr. H. Gusbakti Rusip, expressed appreciation to the PPDS students. "Congratulations to the PPDS students being handed over to teaching hospitals today. This is the real stage where you will apply the knowledge you have learned. We hope you study seriously, maintain professionalism, and always prioritize patient safety," he said.

He also emphasized the importance of cooperation between FKKG UNPRI and teaching hospitals. "Good cooperation between academics and practitioners in the field will produce specialists who are not only clinically competent but also have high empathy and dedication," he asserted. This is in line with UNPRI's vision to produce competent and high-quality graduates recognized internationally.

By handing over these 17 PPDS students, FKKG UNPRI once again proves its commitment to producing high-quality specialist health workers ready to serve the community.
