The Chancellor Urges New Students to Implement UNPRI Values
The Chancellor of Universitas Prima Indonesia Encourages New Students to Practice Academic, Social, and Entrepreneurial Values in Campus Life
The Rector of Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI), Prof. Dr. Chrismis Novalinda Ginting MKes, urged all new students of UNPRI to understand, internalize, and apply the values of UNPRI, namely Unity, Network, Prime, Responsibility, and Integrity.
This message was delivered by Prof. Dr. Chrismis Novalinda Ginting MKes during the opening of the PKKMB UNPRI 2025 event, which was held in two sessions (morning and afternoon) on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at the Main Hall of UNPRI Campus, 10th Floor, Jl. Sampul No. 3 Medan. “Be a technopreneur, an entrepreneur who makes innovative technology the core of their business, not just a supporting tool. A technopreneur combines expertise in technology and entrepreneurship to create or develop new products, services, or business models that utilize technological advancements to solve problems, improve efficiency, or create added value,” she said to the thousands of new students who filled the Main Hall of the campus.
As a symbol of their official acceptance, the Rector of UNPRI, accompanied by Vice Rector I Dr. Abdi Dharma, S.Kom., M.Kom., Vice Rector II Prof. Dr. Ermi Girsang, M.Kes., M.Biomed., AIFO, Vice Rector III Refi Ikhtiari, S.Si, M.Sc., PhD, Vice Rector IV Dr. dr. Ali Napiah Nasution, M.K.T., M.K.M., Sp.K.K.L.P.(K), the deans, and several other lecturers and staff, symbolically put on the academic jacket for a representative group of new students and followed it with the traditional Tepung Tawar ceremony as a blessing for the students' health and success in completing their studies at UNPRI.
PKKMB UNPRI 2025, with the theme “Design Your Future with UNPRI,” featured a number of exciting events, including the welcoming of the Rector and the leadership team with the traditional *Pedang Pora* ceremony, followed by a prayer led by Dr. Hartono MKes, entertainment, a video presentation of UNPRI’s profile, a video showing the achievements of UNPRI students, the cinematic video “Design Your Future with UNPRI,” a motivational session by Enny Magdalena Saragih, Deputy Head of BEI (Indonesian Stock Exchange) North Sumatra, who encouraged students to be smart in investing, and another motivational session by Mega, Operational Manager of Altisia, who urged students to prepare themselves by mastering the English language. There was also a motivational session from UNPRI alumni working in Germany, and entertainment from all the finalists of Mr. & Mrs. UNPRI.
During the motivational session by the Operational Manager of Altisia, several new students were invited to engage in a dialogue in English. One female student even bravely stood up to speak and present in English.
In the second session of PKKMB UNPRI, which started at 1:30 PM, the Rector of UNPRI, represented by Vice Rector I Dr. Abdi Dharma, S.Kom., M.Kom., also emphasized that students should apply the values of UNPRI in their daily lives. “Remember, the purpose of attending university is not just to learn but to gain work experience,” he stressed. In addition to entertainment from UNPRI students’ songs, the traditional *Tari Pacu Jalur* (Pacu Jalur Dance) was also featured. Led by the Committee Chair, Herbert, the dance was symbolically narrated as a reminder that to succeed in their studies at UNPRI, students need to "row" (move forward) from Semester I until they graduate.
