UNPRI Holds Oath-Taking for Nursing Profession, Midwifery Profession and Nursing Diploma

Universitas Prima Indonesia Confirms Graduates Through Professional Oath-Taking

Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) held the Nursing Professional Oath, Midwifery Professional Education, and Diploma Three Nursing, Tuesday (15/4/2025) at the Mini Hall, 10th floor, UNPRI Main Campus, Jln.Sampul No. 3 Medan.

There were 79 graduates who took the oath, consisting of 45 Nursing Professional Study Programs, 32 Midwifery Professional Education Study Programs, and 2 Nursing Diploma Three Study Programs.

According to the Dean of FKK UNPRI, Dr. Tiarnida Nababan, DDT, SKep, Ners, MKep said, the Nurse and Midwife Oath is a source of moral values ​​in nursing practice and midwifery practice carried out by every nurse and every midwife who has graduated from Nursing Education and Midwifery Education and is ready to practice nursing, as well as midwifery practice, in accordance with Law of the Republic of Indonesia number 17 of 2023 concerning Health, Article 215, namely that graduates of the competency test must be sworn in by the Education organizer in accordance with ethics and profession

The Nurse and Midwife Oath is also important for nurses and midwives, where the oath contains the meaning of responsibility and promises to oneself and the relationship between individuals and their creator.

The Nurse and Midwife Oath at FKK UNPRI is in accordance with the guidelines of the Indonesian National Nurses Association (PPNI), as well as the Midwife Professional Oath in accordance with the guidelines of the Indonesian Midwives Association (IBI), which in the end the nurse's oath was confirmed in the Nurse Oath Certificate signed by the Chairperson of the DPW of the Indonesian National Nurses Association (PPNI) of North Sumatra Province, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery, and the Chancellor of Universitas Prima Indonesia. Likewise, the Midwife Oath is confirmed in the Midwife Oath/Promise Manuscript certificate signed by the Chairperson of the Indonesian Midwives Association (IBI) of North Sumatra Province and a Clergyman from the Department of Religion.

Vice Chancellor III of UNPRI Refi Ikhtiari, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D, explained that for alumni who have taken the Nursing and Midwife Professional Oath, hopefully they will become professional health workers in the community, maintain the good name of their alma mater, and always improve their career level.

"Hopefully the Midwives and Nurses can continue their education to a higher level, for the Nursing Profession they can continue their Masters in Nursing, and UNPRI has opened a Masters in Nursing Study Program to facilitate alumni to continue their education," he said.

Betty Mangkuji, SST., M.Keb from the IBI representative said that after the inauguration, Midwife health workers can take care of their STR and for those who have clinics, they can can take care of SIPB. The task of health workers Midwives must be able to reduce the Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) and be able to reduce the Infant Mortality Rate (IMR)

Mahsyur Al Hazkiyani Tanjung, S.Kep, Ners from PPNI said that health workers nurses both from Profession and Diploma after being inaugurated can take care of STR then work in health services. Nurses in health services must work according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) because of the many cases of errors in practice in the field carried out by health workers.

The greeting from the alumni was delivered by a graduate of the Nursing Professional Education, namely Dewi Wisdianti Zega, who expressed her gratitude to the Lecturers who had provided learning during the lectures, to the Dean who had given the best advice and suggestions so that she could graduate and complete her education well.

"Especially to the Chancellor and the Universitas Prima Indonesia Foundation who have facilitated learning both in class and in the practice field, hopefully the Deans, Lecturers, Education Personnel will always be given Health, especially for FKK and UNPRI, hopefully they will be more advanced and successful, and improve better education in the future," she said.

Dewi Wisdianti Zega hopes to be able to carry out nursing care and midwifery care well in the community, as professional workers in health services to achieve a healthy Indonesia. "For alumni, so that they are not satisfied with this, always improve their career levels to the S2 or S3 level, as the next generation of the nation who are qualified in the field of health services," he hoped.

The event was also attended by the Chairperson and Secretary of the Nursing Undergraduate Study Program and Diploma Three Nursing, Chairperson of the Nursing Professional Study Program, Chairperson and Secretary of the Midwife Professional Education Study Program, and the Education Staff of FKK UNPRI.
