Prepare International Level Human Resources:

UNPRI Holds World Class Professor Socialization

Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) continues to improve to prepare for the target of becoming UNPRI Unggul in 2026 and Go International in 2033. The availability of adequate Human Resources (HR) is one of the supporting factors for UNPRI's vision and Renstra, especially the existence of lecturers with academic qualifications of Doctorate and functional positions of Professor. One of the programs of the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology (Diktiristek) to continue the process of strengthening the competitiveness of Indonesian universities in the global competition arena is World Class Professor (WCP).

As a participatory role of UNPRI in WCP and to ensure the quality of collaborative lecturer proposals with Professors from Abroad, on Monday, April 17, 2023, the UNPRI Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM) held a World Class Professor socialization with speaker Saharman Dea S.Si., M.Si. Ph.D, a lecturer at the University of North Sumatra (USU). The event took place in the Postgraduate Room of the UNPRI Main Campus on Jalan Sampul 4, Medan City.

The event was attended by all ranks of UNPRI Vice Chancellors, namely: WR I Abdi Dharma MKom, WR II Prof. Dr. Ermi Girsang MKes, WR III Said Rizal MA, WR IV Dr. dr. Ali Napiah Nasution MKT, representatives of Deans, Heads of Study Programs, Institutions and Bureaus, along with 55 UNPRI Professors and Doctors who attended the event both in person and online.

The WCP program is intended so that lecturers and researchers can interact with superior and renowned professors so that they can improve their academic life, competence, quality and contribution to the development of Science and Technology (IPTEK) and as a reinforcement of the National Innovation system in utilizing the diversity and wealth of Indonesia's natural resources for the welfare of the Indonesian people. The main requirement for the proposal is to prepare a publication draft (joint publication draft). This program provides an opportunity to collaborate and interact with researchers abroad.

In his remarks, Vice Rector 1 UNPRI expressed his gratitude to the speakers who had taken the time to socialize the WCP program. WCP is a special program aimed at Doctors/Professors to apply for a collaborative research grant with professors abroad. The selected professors must have a high H-index and come from leading institutions in the world."

"We hope that this grant activity will improve UNPRI's achievements at a world level through cooperation with world-class professors. Especially related to the availability of UNPRI human resources, which already have many doctors," said Abdi Dharma

In his presentation, Saharman explained that the WCP program is a relatively new grant considering that it only started in 2020. In the 2022 grant, out of 100 proposals received, only 24 were approved and received funding. This program is indeed very prestigious so that the success of winning this grant will greatly increase institutional accreditation.

"How do we introduce UNPRI to the international world, UNPRI's go international movement must be implemented at all levels, lecturer and student levels, especially related to publications that have been indexed in international journals reputable," Suharman explained, "UNPRI goes international, its lecturers must dare to go international, both in their work and in visiting the top 300 leading universities in the world."

Finally, WR 1 UNPRI emphasized that the university welcomes and fully supports this WCP program. UNPRI facilitates the formation of relations and networking abroad through correspondence and networks that lecturers already have to be involved in the implementation of the World Class Professor grant.
