Visit and Observation to UPT Special School (SLB) E Pembina

Unpri Faculty of Psychology students semester 2 and 4 in the morning, on Tuesday, April 12, 2011, visited and observed UPT SLB E Pembina, Medan, which is an educational institution that accommodates children with special needs (ABK). This visit and observation was carried out as a form of real application of several courses given at the UNPRI Faculty of Psychology, namely Education for Exceptional Children and Abnormal Psychology. It is expected that students will not only obtain theories during lectures but also by conducting direct observations to see the real existence of ABK students in the field and see various kinds of student behavior and interactions, be it blind, deaf, autistic, mentally retarded and various types of obstacles in ABK children. This activity is a form of real insight development in students about the conditions of ABK children in the field. This activity received a warm welcome from the SLB. Students attended the opening and welcoming ceremony, there was also a Q&A session about children with special needs and continued with observations in each class at the SLB.
